This was a very concerning and distressing experience as a parent. On 3/23/26, my child was treated at Modesto Oral Surgery by Dr. Brian K. Hutto and received sedation for a tooth extraction. During the procedure, my child appeared uncomfortable and showed signs of distress, including difficulty tolerating the procedure and dry mouth. Despite this, the procedure continued. While still sedated, my child attempted to push the dentist’s hand away during the treatment, which appeared to be a response to discomfort. The tooth extraction was started but not completed, and part of the tooth was left in place, requiring further treatment at another dental office. We were discharged without the issue being fully resolved or clear follow-up instructions regarding the incomplete extraction. Afterward, my child experienced ongoing pain and required additional treatment elsewhere to address the remaining portion of the tooth. This experience raised concerns for me regarding communication, monitoring during sedation, and handling of pediatric patients showing signs of distress. I’m also going to file a formal complaint with the appropriate regulatory authority.

Absolutely phenomenal. Between Dr. Hutto and his staff, they are quick, efficient, and extremely friendly and professional. Had to get some wisdom teeth removed and he went above and beyond even finding another issue and fixing it during the procedure. If you have to get any oral surgeries done, this is the place to go and honestly the only issue is they only do surgery. I'd absolutely love to come to them for all my dental needs.

My son who is on the spectrum came to have some teeth pulled and was scared. He had an opposite reaction to his calming medication prescribed and I asked if I could calm my son down before the doctor started. His staff wanted to stay on schedule and did not allow me to get my son calm. He screamed the whole time. He had a bad experience. I wish the staff could recognize when a patient needed a little more TLC and take the time to calm a patient.

I recently had my wisdom teeth removed here, and the experience was incredibly smooth. My case wasn’t too complicated, and the procedure itself was super quick — I was in and out in about 20 minutes. My recovery was also much easier than I expected. I had some swelling for maybe 3-4 days and a bit of light bruising, but I felt no real pain during the entire process. The doctor made sure all my medications were sent to the pharmacy right after my appointment, so I was able to pick them up immediately. I stayed on top of taking them, which I’m sure helped, but the care I received made a huge difference. The office even called to follow up and check how I was doing, and they were ready to answer any questions I had. Overall, I highly recommend this dentist. The doctor and the whole team were very attentive and made the entire process as easy as possible.
